The CAC staff are excited to be back in our building -- on a limited basis -- to finalize plans for our summer classes and programs.

CAC will start a few classes the week of July 6 with additional classes added each week. Even though CAC staff are in the building, it remains closed to the public -- only staff and registered students after (July 6) will be allowed in the facility. While we would like to see everyone, for the health and safety of all, we must adhere to this “NO WALK-IN” policy for the near future.

To visit the center after July 6, you MUST be enrolled in a class or workshop, or make an appointment to view the gallery or utilize open studio time. For requests or questions, please contact us at info@chesapeakearts.org. Email is the best method to reach us as staff are not in the office full-time yet.

According to our C.A.R.E.S Safety Protocol, our classes will have fewer than 10 students and every student and instructor must follow social distancing, wear masks while in the building, and sanitize hands upon arrival; no one with a fever of 100.4 or above will be admitted for classes. Please read our C.A.R.E.S. document before registering for a class.

This summer, we’re thrilled to offer a mix of virtual and in-person classes and workshops. And we have a new art program to share -- our new ARTventures at-home art kits for ages 3 and up. These fun, educational, and affordable art kits contain everything your family needs to stay creative and engaged this summer. Learn about them and order your art kit here.

Here’s a quick summary of art classes by discipline. We invite you to register today:

Kids Summer Workshops

Our traditional summer camps have been shortened to summer workshops that will meet Monday thru Friday for a half-day of themed creative activities. Check them out here.

In-person ceramics classes for kids and adults will have a maximum of 5 students/class and wheels will be 6 ft. apart from each other. Ceramics Open Studio is available in 3-hour blocks Monday thru Friday. Make an appointment here.

Ballet and Modern classes will be held virtually using Google Classrooms and professional streaming equipment from our dance studios, and Hip Hop, Jazz, and Movers and Shakers will be offered outside under a tent at CAC. Click here to see the schedule.

MakerSpace

MakerSpace workshops for kids and adults (in our large 3rd floor classrooms) will have a maximum of 9 students working independently at tables 6 ft. apart. We’ve added new workshops including Mini Makers and Slime Lab! Open Studio in the Michael Stanley MakerSpace remains closed through until further notice.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to serving you this summer at CAC!
