CAC’s 5th Annual
World Art Day Open House

Kick off 25 years of creativity at Chesapeake Arts Center’s (CAC’s) Annual Open House, celebrating World Art Day! This FREE, family-friendly event launches CAC’s anniversary year with a vibrant day of art, culture, and community.

Explore hands-on activities inspired by traditions from around the world, experience live performances across dance, theatre, and music, and step inside our studios for live artist demos—including ceramics, one of CAC’s fastest-growing programs. From artist talks and student showcases to global dance and drumming, the day highlights the creativity of every generation.

Enjoy giveaways, door prizes, and food available for purchase. Come and connect with the community that has shaped CAC over the past 25 years—and will inspire the next 25.

Participate in HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS to create your own works of art to take home or lend a hand with two community art projects.

  • Create Japanese Sumi-e Ink Flower Paintings

  • Sculpt Ancient Greek Medallions from Clay

  • Craft German Stained Glass

  • Assemble wood“Kalinka” Polish Flowers

  • Create your own Colombian Flowers

  • Help us celebrate our 25th anniversary by taking part in two community arts projects: Quilting Squares and Felt Collage

Get inspired to try something new through LIVE PERFORMANCES & DEMONSTRATIONS taking place throughout the day.

  • AACPS Senior Students will participate in a gallery talk in conjunction with their art exhibit on display in our galleries

  • CAC’s Musical Theater Class performs scenes from their recent show: The Addams Family

  • Hip Hop Kidz Dance Class Performance

  • Learn Bollywood & Bhangra Dance

  • Participate in African Drumming & Dance

  • Watch Ceramics Handbuilding and Wheel Demonstrations

  • See woodworking Demos in our MakerSpace
