What is Anne Arundel Arts Month?

Anne Arundel County is home to a vibrant arts community. This year the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County has teamed up with AND Creative Studios, Chesapeake Arts Center, and Arts Lab of South County to create a month-long celebration of art called Anne Arundel Arts Month.

This month brings the community together around a broad and diverse local arts scene. During June, we invite all to engage and interact with the arts through elevated community-led events. Performances, workshops, exhibits and more will showcase the importance of a thriving arts community. The arts bring joy, build community, and generate economic value for our county and state.

Is your ART organization located in the North County? (Glen Burnie, Pasadena, Odenton, Linthicum, Brooklyn Park, Severn, Crofton, Ft. Meade and Severna Park). North County will be celebrating the week of June 15 - June 21, 2024. Please visit www.annearundelarts.com to submit your art events and join the fun!

A Tribute to Juneteenth will highlight the complicated history of this national holiday. Dating back to 1865, the holiday commemorates the day when 250,000 slaves in the state of Texas, were declared free by the U.S. Army.  “Juneteenth or June 19th has become a symbol for emancipation. Since we know that the Emancipation Proclamation did not end slavery for all, these short plays will dramatically highlight some of the struggles to gain freedoms after the civil war.

Art Exchange Boxes provide a wonderful opportunity for community engagement and creativity -- where community members can “take art and leave art” or art supplies for future creativity in a interactive community location where all have access to create and enjoy art. Chesapeake Arts Center (CAC) is constructing 8 Art Exchange Boxes to be placed at locations in West and North Anne Arundel County during Anne Arundel ARTS MONTH (June). With the help of the community members, CAC will fill all the boxes with artwork and art supplies. CAC is seeking to put Art Exchange Boxes in Glen Burnie, Pasadena, Odenton, Linthicum, Brooklyn Park, Severn, Crofton and Severna Park.
