Mixed Media: Comics and Clay This six-session after school program introduces students to mixed media art through hands-on, creative projects that combine drawing, storytelling, and three-dimensional art. Students will explore comic book art by designing their own comic panels, developing original characters, and bringing a character to life by sculpting them out of clay. Throughout the program, students will experiment with different artistic materials and techniques while building creativity, and artistic confidence.
Sewing: Practice to Projects This hands-on after-school program introduces students in grades 3–5 to the fundamentals of sewing through creative projects. Initially, students will build confidence with sewing machine operations, practice threading the machine, winding bobbins, and stitching straight lines. Then they will apply these skills to create a snap-shut pouch, a tote bag, and a plushie. The final class will provide time to complete unfinished projects and celebrate each student’s accomplishments. No prior sewing experience is necessary!
