The Ceramics Department at CAC is composed of 3 distinct studios. Our main studio is located on the bottom floor and home to 8 pottery wheels and 3 kilns, including one of the largest in the state of Maryland. On the 3rd Floor, we have a hand-building studio, and a 2nd wheel throwing studio. The hand-building studio is equipped with a slab roller, sink and large worktables. Our 2nd wheel throwing studio was added in February 2024, and has 8 pottery wheels. All of our ceramics studios are graced with large windows, allowing for beautiful natural light throughout the day. Click here for a complete list of equipment.
Ceramicists can fine-tune their skills under the guidance of professional artists while beginners, both children and adults, have the opportunity to explore the medium in a supportive atmosphere.
