About the Exhibition

Locally- based concert photographers will “dig deep” into their archives for this Rock-n-Roll Concert Photography Exhibition, printing photos never seen before. The exhibit will include photos of national acts as well as a new section devoted to local and regional performers and professionals.

We will select artwork to be displayed in the Chesapeake Arts Center’s Hal Gomer Gallery from August 4-September 30, 2021.

Artist: Adam Slote

Adam's first camera was a well-worn Leica rangefinder - a gift from his father in 1975 prior to a family vacation in Egypt. That trip sparked a love for photography that has woven its way through his career as a pediatrician and global health specialist, and - for the last 14 years - fatherhood.

His son Jack plays bass with the classic rock band Lopsided Chickens - five boys, all rising 8th and 9th graders at Severna Park Middle and High School. This picture was taken during the pandemic at a performance with the Priddy Music Academy at Garry's Grill in Severna Park.

Artist: Brad Price

“My name is Brad, and I am a photographer from Annapolis, Maryland. I have been photographing concerts since 2017, and launched Planet B Photography on Halloween 2019. Live music is my favorite thing to photograph, and having to go a year and a half without it wounded my soul. Now that live shows have returned, that wound is healed, and you may just spot a long-haired man in a red coverall with a camera lurking in a photo pit; he is a happy man indeed.”

Artist: Deanna Escobar: I started photography in 2001. I really got into it, post 9/11, to get closer to things I loved — extreme sports and music. Of the two subjects, concerts have dominated my portfolio.  Originally, I started out with Minolta Maxxum 35mm film SLR. A couple of years later, I graduated to a Nikon DSLR.

I love being able to capture someone in the moment. My photography style tends to be bold, sharp, and bright. For my concert photography, I want people to feel like they're in the front row, seeing what I see.I've been lucky enough in my hobby to have access to a lot of larger artists.  I've had the support of a DC-area radio station for a long period of time.

Artist: Domenic Cicala: I wear more than a few hats. One of my great loves is photography. I started as a collector and lover of the medium back in the analog days of film. That love of film still influences my work. I live mostly in the photography world, shooting people.  My main areas of work these days are Music and  Beauty portraits, though you will find an occasional still life or landscape. I prefer to capture those moments in between, unstaged, no pretense, truth.
