AACPS APEX MAGENT PROGRAM STUDENT ART SHOW

Chesapeake Arts Center Gallery Hallway I June 10 – July 31, 2025

During their junior year in the Apex Arts magnet program, the Visual Art students tackle AP Art and Design. This is a year-long artistic exploration that pushes the students to develop a sustained investigation. This challenges students to create a body of related works that demonstrate an inquiry-based investigation of materials, processes, and ideas through practice, experimentation, and revision. Based on their own experiences and ideas, the students formulate guiding questions and experiment with a variety of materials and processes. Throughout the year, they revise and reflect, consistently reevaluating how to better explore their investigation. In the end, they learn to communicate the reasoning for their artistic choices and concepts, presenting a fully developed idea. For this show, the students have chosen 3 pieces from their sustained investigation, to represent their technical skills, their growth, and their artistic practice.
