CAC Closing Information

Update: March 25, 2020

As you know, CAC is closed by the Governor’s order as a non-essential business due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Our staff and instructors are disappointed that we can’t continue to meet and connect through our arts classes. We hope you -- and all our students and families -- are staying healthy and following guidelines to social distance and wash hands often. Our most important priority is to keep everyone healthy and safe. If you are currently enrolled in a class at CAC, we will be in touch soon about the remainder of the spring semester. We greatly appreciate your patience.

We will continue to post updates here and on our social media as we have them. Thank you for your continued support.

March 13, 2020

Dear CAC Friends,

Taking care of our patrons is an essential part of our organizational culture. In accordance with those values and following the policies of Anne Arundel County Public Schools and the State of Maryland, the Chesapeake Arts Center is closing the facility starting on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 5:00pm through March 27, 2020. This means all CAC programs, after school programs, classes, rental events, and open studios will be postponed. Please stay tuned for more information on possible makeup classes from the Education Department.

The CAC offices will also be closed from March 16 through March 27, 2020 and the staff will be working remotely during this time.

Additional to classes/ open studio being postponed, we have a list of upcoming CAC event/performance updates:

  • ACDS after-school Teen Art Program is postponed until March 30, 2020.

  • Anne Arundel County Public School “I’m an Artist” after-school program showcase on March 19, 2020 has been cancelled.

  • Annapolis Opera has cancelled Mr. Brewster’s Invigorating Invention Field-Trip. Ticketholders please contact operations@annapolisopera.org

  • Chesapeake Arts Center’s Arts All Day field-Trip has been cancelled on April 16, 2020.

  • CAC Free MakerSpace Family Workshop scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2020 has been cancelled.

  • Transcendent Events Presents Story Time on Saturday, March 21, 2020 has been postponed. Ticketholders will be contacted directly by Transcendent Events. New date for the show is TBD.

  • CAC’s Winter/ Spring Dance Recital has been postponed until Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 6:00pm

We will continue to monitor this situation and will notify patrons of any changes through email, the CAC website and social media.

This remains a complicated and rapidly evolving situation that reminds us that we are all part of a broader society with a responsibility to look out for one another. This is what the CAC will continue to do, and we are grateful for your understanding and for being the best supporters in the arts!

As always, thank you for your support of the Chesapeake Arts Center.
